SacUG began with a vision to unite and uplift the Ugandan-American community in Sacramento through cultural pride, shared values, and economic empowerment. Rooted in our heritage and shaped by our experiences, our story is one of resilience, collaboration.

Our mission is to empower the Ugandan-American community in Sacramento by promoting unity, cultural pride, and opportunities for growth in education, business, and social engagement. We strive to create an inclusive environment that honors our heritage while building a foundation for lasting success and resilience.

Meet The Team

Paul Sempungu, President

Paul plays a pivotal role in leading, organizing, and representing the community, ensuring its development, unity, and welfare. He acts as a bridge between community members and external stakeholders, fostering communication and cooperation while upholding cultural values and addressing collective needs.

Michael Sekamanya, Vice President

As the community vice president, Michael supports the president in leadership and governance, stepping in when necessary to oversee meetings, mediate conflicts, and represent the community. By working closely with the president, he helps maintain stability and continuity in leadership while advocating for the community’s best interests.

Christopher Mubiru, Treasurer

Chris is responsible for managing the group’s finances, including budgeting, record-keeping, and ensuring transparency in all monetary transactions. He oversees the collection of dues, tracks expenditures, and provides regular financial reports to the leadership and members.

Jonathan Kalibala, Men's Lead

Jonathan serves as a role model for integrity, respect, and positive conduct within the group. He also mentors younger or newer members, uphold the community’s values and traditions, and collaborate with other leaders to ensure a harmonious and dignified environment.

Aida Sempaka, Women's Lead

As the women leader, Aida plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights, needs, and empowerment of women within the group. She organizes initiatives to support women’s education, economic opportunities, and social well-being, while also addressing gender-specific challenges.

Dr Kiiza Smith, Coordinator

Dr Kiiza helps with communicating, planning, organizing, and overseeing various projects, events, or programs to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently within the community.

Lynette Brenda, Youth Leader

Lynette is in charge of guiding, mentoring, and supporting young people, fostering their personal, cultural and social development within the community.
